Vihiga ready to host 61st National Labour Day celebrations

Preparations are in top gear in Vihiga County ahead of this year’s 61st Labour Day celebrations set for May 1, 2026.

This is the first time the national event is being held outside Nairobi.

The celebrations will be held at Friends Chavakali High School and currently preparatory activities at the school including infrastructure upgrades, beautification works and installation of tents are at an advanced stage.

The national celebrations is expected to draw top government officials, workers’ representatives, and members of the public from across the country, positioning Vihiga as the focal point of this year’s Labour Day commemorations.
