CABINET MINISTERS SWORN IN AS PORTFOLIOS SHIFT

 Three Cabinet ministers were officially sworn in at the Royal Palace in Maseru marking a significant reshuffle within the government.

The ceremony saw Member of Parliament for Mphosong, Mrs. ’Mamokete Nts’ekhe, take oath as Minister of Health, while Thuathe constituency legislator Mrs. Voeswa Tsheka assumed the role of Minister of Home Affairs and Police. Motimposo constituency Member of Parliament, Mrs. ’Makatleho Motsoasele, was sworn in as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office.

In an interview with the Agency, Mrs. Motsoasele acknowledged the weight of her new responsibilities, noting that her ministry deals with critical issues affecting vulnerable populations, including disaster management, so she is committed to delivering exceptional service in collaboration with ministry officials.

“I am aware of the challenges that come with this portfolio, particularly in addressing issues of vulnerability and disasters. I am ready to work closely with the team to ensure effective service delivery,” she said.

The reshuffle also saw several ministers reassigned to new portfolios. Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane moved from Foreign Affairs and International Relations to Energy and Mining, while Mr. Selibe Mochoboroane shifted from Health to Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition. Mr. Thabo Mofosi, previously in Agriculture took over Environment and Forestry.

Mr. Lebona Lephema had been redeployed from Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police to Trade, Industry and Business Development.

Meanwhile, Mr. Limpho Tau transitioned from the Prime Minister’s Office to head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

At the same time, Mr. Mokhethi Shelile and Mr. Letsema Adotsi had been relieved of their duties as Cabinet ministers.

Following these changes, the total number of Lesotho government ministries now stands at 19.
