President Bola Tinubu congratulates High Chief Gilbert Tamisan Grant, the Agura-Otiri of Warri, on his 80th birthday, July 31.

Chief Grant is one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous petroleum engineers.

He began his career as a Petroleum/Reservoir Engineer with Gulf Oil Company Nigeria Limited (now Chevron Nigeria Limited) in 1970. He later joined the Nigerian National Oil Corporation (NNOC) in 1974 as a pioneer staff member.

Over his distinguished 21-year career in the public sector, he served across the upstream, downstream, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) segments of Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

In recognition of his contributions to the development of the nation’s natural gas industry, he was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive of Nigeria LNG Limited in 1992.

He also held other high-ranking offices, including Group Executive Director and Member of the Group Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), from which he retired in 1995.

President Tinubu salutes the accomplished professional whose career spans more than five decades of dedicated service to Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The President commends Chief Grant for his professionalism, integrity, and invaluable service to the nation.

He also lauds his contributions to Nigeria’s engineering profession, corporate governance, higher education, and community leadership, which reflect a lifetime of commitment to national development and institutional excellence.

President Tinubu joins family, friends, and associates to celebrate Chief Grant on this milestone occasion, wishing him many more years in good health and strength.
