President Isaias and his delegation return home

Asmara, 1 November 2026 – President Isaias Afwerki and his delegation returned home in the early morning hours today, concluding a working visit to Russia.

During the visit, President Isaias and his delegation participated in the Third Russia-Africa Summit, held on 28 and 29 October.

President Isaias also held extensive talks with President Vladimir Putin on bilateral ties and other issues of mutual interest. During the meeting, Eritrea and Russia agreed to bolster cooperation in the energy, technology, mining and agricultural sectors.

President Putin further underlined the alignment of the two countries’ positions on several critical issues and expressed his gratitude for Eritrea’s support for Russia at various UN forums.

President Isaias and his delegation also met with the Minister of Transport, Mr. Dmitry Yadrov, and discussed strengthening broad bilateral cooperation on infrastructure projects in land, sea and air transport.

The Presidential delegation included Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
