Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has called for enhanced coordination between the Government and Development Partners to improve service delivery and strengthen accountability.

“We need effective coordination of Development Partner interventions, greater alignment with national policy priorities, and a focus on high-impact investments,” Nabbanja said.

She made the remarks last Tuesday while chairing the National Partnership Forum (NPF) political meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala. The NPF serves as a platform for fostering coordination and accountability between the Government of Uganda and its development partners in managing development assistance.

Nabbanja appreciated the development partners for the continued support to Uganda, but highlighted persistent funding gaps, particularly in Uganda’s refugee response.

Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Hon. Peter Lokeris, also commended development partners for their contributions.

“We are grateful to our Development Partners, especially the United States, for supporting government efforts to deliver essential services to our people,” Lokeris said.

Ireland’s Ambassador to Uganda, Her Excellency Mags Gaynor, who represented the co-chair of the Local Development Partners Group, reaffirmed their commitment to Uganda’s development agenda. She emphasised the importance of blended financing, increased private sector engagement, and modernising partnership frameworks.

“We must prioritise accountability, transparency, and results-based implementation,” Gaynor said.

Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador William Popp assured the Prime Minister of continued American support toward Uganda’s development and humanitarian efforts.

The meeting was attended by the UN Resident Coordinator, H.E. Leonard Zulu, along with several diplomats and government officials.
