The Minister highlighted key milestones, including the establishment of Bunyoro Public University and significant road infrastructure upgrades across districts such as Kiryandogo, Buliisa, Kagadi and Kakumiro. She added that the ongoing development of Kabalega International Airport is expected to boost regional connectivity and position Bunyoro to regional connectivity and position Bunyoro to host major events including AFCON.
On livelihood improvement, Hon. Namuyangu noted that government has supported farmers with coffee seedlings, heifers and agricultural tools, while insuring equitable access to these interventions. She stressed that oil development should complement not replace other income generating activities, encouraging communities to actively participate in agriculture and enterprise.
The Minister stressed that infrastructure investment has already unlocked new opportunities in trade, hospitality and production, with increased economic activity emerging along newly tarmacked roads.
She also highlighted the importance of environmental conservation, noting efforts to protect key natural resources such as Budongo and Bugoma forests, while encouraging tree planting and sustainable practices alongside oil activities.
The Assistant Commissioner for Bunyoro Affairs, Mr. Nobert Katsirabo, attributed some public concerns about slow development to communication gaps and high expectations. He noted that government has intensified community engagement through barazas and mobilization efforts to improve awareness of ongoing programs.
He urged citizens to organize themselves and take advantage of emerging opportunities, emphasizing that the transformation of Bunyoro will be by both government interventions and active community participation.
