Lesotho is participating in the Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026, with the Minister of Sports, Tourism, Arts and Culture together with tourism stakeholders and private sector representatives attending the iconic African leisure trade show.

The event, owned by South African Tourism, provides access to a wide range of African leisure tourism products and serves as a platform for exhibitors to showcase their offerings to international and local buyers.

Minister Motlatsi Maqelepo said Lesotho’s collective presence at the event demonstrates the country’s commitment to maximising opportunities aimed at advancing the tourism sector.

He said the country is also seeking to attract foreign travellers while building collaborations and partnerships that can encourage more visitors to tour Lesotho.

Mr. Maqelepo stated that although many foreign nationals travel to Lesotho for business purposes or to visit relatives, the country also wants to encourage them to take time to explore its unique tourism destinations.

Meanwhile, at the Lesotho exhibition stand, Lesotho Highlands Water Project delegate Mr. Tsèpang Hatase said the Lesotho Highlands Water Project contributes to tourism development through infrastructure development and community capacity-building programmes.

He said local communities are benefiting from initiatives aimed at helping them take advantage of tourism opportunities available in their areas.

On the other hand, co-founder of the Maletsunyane Braai Festival, Mr. Mariti Mariti, said they are participating in the trade show to showcase Lesotho’s beauty, culture, adventure and lifestyle to Africa and the rest of the world.

He highlighted attractions ranging from the mountains of Semonkong to the famous Maletsunyane Falls, describing the festival as Africa’s highest and coldest braai experience.
