When the 2026–2031 roster of Cabinet Ministers arrives in public offices in a few days’ time, the name of Gen. Moses Ali will be absent. For the first time in many years, on 26 May 2026, His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni released a Cabinet list without the name of a man who has been in active public service for over 50 years.

Below is a brief account of the accomplishments of Gen. Moses Ali during his time as the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament from June 2021 to May 2026.

Also known as the Lion of Adjumani, the Rt. Hon. Moses Ali has played a pivotal role in advancing government programmes such as the Parish Development Model, Operation Wealth Creation, Emyooga, and the Youth Livelihood Programme, among others, in his home district of Adjumani and other parts of the country.

Throughout his tenure, he strengthened citizen engagement, supported vulnerable groups, and fostered partnerships with actors in the development space, directly contributing to socio-economic transformation.

Rt. Hon. Moses Ali’s efforts helped bring government interventions closer to the people while encouraging greater participation in national development initiatives. He regularly held stakeholder meetings, creating platforms for receiving feedback from the public on service delivery.

As Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Rt. Hon. Moses Ali contributed significantly to political mobilisation and the communication of government policies, helping to strengthen public confidence in government programmes while promoting patriotism and national unity.

Beyond Uganda’s borders, he fostered international partnerships that delivered tangible benefits to communities. Notably, he championed collaboration between the Madi sub-region and Sardinia in Italy, a partnership that supported infrastructure development, cultural exchanges, and socio-economic initiatives that improved livelihoods.

Overall, Rt. Hon. Moses Ali’s tenure was marked by a legacy of leadership grounded in unity, resilience, and inclusive progress.
