LESOTHO STOOD WITH THE WORLD AND RECOMMITTED TO THE FIGHT AGAINST HIV.

H.E. Ambassador Matete ’Nena, serving as Vice‑President of the UN General Assembly, chaired the High‑Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS held on 22–23 June 2026 at UN Headquarters in New York.

Under the theme “United to End AIDS,” the gathering reviewed progress toward the 2025 global targets and advanced work on a new Political Declaration to guide the Global AIDS Strategy 2026–2031. Key priorities included Funding & Equity and Global Targets.

Ambassador ’Nena will also deliver Lesotho’s national statement on behalf of the Minister of Health, Hon. ’Mamokete Ntšekhe, reaffirming the country’s commitment to ending AIDS.
