PRESIDENT HICHILEMA PLEDGES LANDLESS CORNER–MUMBWA ROAD, DISCLOSES $550M SAVINGS ON LUSAKA–NDOLA HIGHWAY

President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to upgrade the Landless Corner–Mumbwa road to bituminous standard and disclosed that a saving of $550 million was secured through the renegotiation of the Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway project.

He made the remarks during an inspection of the Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway across Central Province, where he engaged residents at several points including 15 Miles, 22 Miles, Liteta, Chibombo, and Landless Corner.

The Head of State explained that the highway, initially quoted at $1.2 billion, was restructured under a Public‑Private Partnership framework to $650 million, shifting financial responsibility to concession partners and easing the burden on the public treasury.

At Landless Corner, President Hichilema assured residents that the Landless Corner–Mumbwa road project would prioritize recruiting local workers to stimulate community economic growth. He also directed that four volunteer nurses present in the crowd be recruited into the civil service.

The President took time to interact with workers on the Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway, commending their efforts and assuring them of continued government support as works progress.

Turning to agriculture, he announced that maize depots will soon open, with government purchasing mechanisms now designed to ensure farmers are paid promptly, eliminating the long queues and delayed payments that characterized past farming seasons.

President Hichilema urged residents across Central Province to deliver a total vote sweep for the United Party for National Development (UPND) in the upcoming general elections, from the presidency to local government positions.
