President Hakainde Hichilema has said that everything he has accomplished for Zambia, and his contributions in the region and continent, are because God is using him as His instrument. He has emphasised that it is impossible to achieve anything without God.
“We believe that no matter what we think we are, or who we think we are, without God we are nothing,” President Hichilema said.
The President made these remarks today when visiting Ghanaian Evangelist Dag Heward‑Mills, accompanied by representatives of the Council of Churches in Zambia and the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, paid a courtesy call on him at State House.
President Hichilema expressed delight at the cordial relations between Zambia and Ghana, which have further been strengthened by the recent visit of Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama. He thanked Evangelist Heward‑Mills for offering prayers for him and the nation, and for choosing to evangelize in Zambia through preaching and his collection of books.
Responding to Evangelist Heward‑Mills’s request to pray for him to receive the grace of King David, President Hichilema said he could only learn from King David’s life as he aspired to continue following Jesus Christ.

Evangelist Heward‑Mills thanked President Hichilema for granting him the privilege to visit and pray for him. “Not every President welcomes evangelistic teams. We have been to many nations, so we say thank you and believe God will honour you,” he said.
He congratulated the President on the developments achieved in the past five years and offered prayers for him to receive the grace that King David had in Israel.
“David united Israel. After him, only Solomon kept the tribes together and made Israel strong. I will pray that God gives you that grace, so that under your leadership, Zambia will be greater and stronger. I also pray for you to be a man after God’s own heart,” he said.
He further prayed that the President would overcome the challenges the country still faces.
Executive Chairperson of the Healing Jesus Campaign, Bishop Joshua Banda, said it was a privilege for Evangelist Heward‑Mills to visit Zambia as the nation heads toward the general election on 13 August, stressing that the visit would help reshape both the spiritual and economic landscape of the country.
