President Hichilema Concludes Working Tour of Luapula Province

President Hakainde Hichilema has concluded his working visit to Luapula Province, reassuring citizens of his administration’s resolve to accelerate infrastructural growth, enhance energy security, and expand social services across the region.

​During his tour of the province, which covered Mansa, Samfya, Nchelenge, Chienge, Lunga, Mwense, Kawambwa, and Chifunabuli, the Head of State emphasised that rural communities remain central to Zambia’s broader economic transformation agenda, promising that no part of the country will be left behind.

​Addressing long-standing connectivity challenges, President Hichilema announced targeted road rehabilitation works along major transit corridors, including the Tuta, Chembe, and Samfya stretches. He also pledged the procurement of modern public water vessels and passenger boats to ensure safe, reliable transport for island dwellers in Lunga and surrounding water bodies.

​On energy and economic development, the President highlighted upcoming power projects, including the planned 200-megawatt Kalungwishi Hydropower Plant in Mansa, designed to stabilize electricity supply and stimulate industrial growth. He further outlined measures to support local farmers, expand aquaculture ventures, and optimize structured cross-border trade, particularly with the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

​In the social sector, the Head of State reaffirmed government commitment to human capital development through the upgrade of Samfya District Hospital to a specialist facility, plans for tertiary education infrastructure in Mansa, and the continued implementation of the free education policy.

President Hichilema further urged residents and regional stakeholders to maintain peace and unity, describing stability as essential for achieving sustainable growth and job creation.
