National Festival 2026 Colorfully Concludes

Asmara, 27 July 2026 – The National Eritrean Festival 2026, which was officially opened by President Isaias Afwerki on 18 July at the Expo Compound, colorfully concluded yesterday, 26 July, with an official ceremony.

The closing ceremony was attended by ministers, senior Government and PFDJ officials, as well as numerous artists and festival participants from the various regions of the country.

Ambassador Zemede Tekle, Commissioner of Culture and Sports and Chairman of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, said that the festival serves as an important platform for gaining experience and advancing work to a higher level.

Ambassador Zemede expressed his expectation that timely and constructive ideas would be received to ensure the organization of better and more effective programs in the future.

A report presented at the ceremony indicated that the festival featured 24 displays and programs that demonstrated strong participation and commitment and received wide acclaim from visitors.

The closing event featured cultural and artistic programs, as well as the presentation of certificates of participation and recognition.

According to the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, about half a million people visited the nine-day festival, which began on 18 July.

The festival featured cultural and musical performances, traditional villages showcasing the cultures and traditions of the country’s various ethnic groups, exhibitions of products by institutions and regions, children’s educational and entertainment programs, book displays, painting and sculpture exhibitions, seminars, literature and poetry competitions, as well as research presentations, among other activities.
