HEALTH-RELATED GROUPS TO JOIN FORCES TO ADVANCE SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND YOUTH RIGHTS.
SOS Children’s Village, through its Youth Employability and Entrepreneurship Training (YEET) Project, is preparing to host a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Campaign at Ha Tobolela, Thaba Phats’oa in Leribe district in July 2026.
In an interview, YEET Project Youth Coordinator Mrs. ‘Mamatete Letsoso said the organisation is developing a comprehensive campaign aimed at addressing the sexual and reproductive health needs of young people participating in the project.
Mrs. Letsoso announced that the campaign will target not only current YEET participants and alumni but also young people from surrounding villages.
She explained that the initiative seeks to equip young people with knowledge and skills on key Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights issues, including Gender-Based Violence (GBV), cancer prevention with a focus on breast and cervical cancer, voluntary medical male circumcision and other reproductive health matters affecting both young women and men.
Mrs. Letsoso said the District Child Protection Team (DCPT) has been invited to participate in the campaign, noting that the team’s expertise and understanding of local issues will contribute significantly to the success of the event.
She added that the DCPT is expected to work closely with SOS Children’s Village to host the campaign, which will also feature a sports tournament at Ramapepe Community Council area.
According to Mrs. Letsoso, the campaign will be co-hosted in collaboration with the National AIDS Commission (NAC) through its Youth Leadership Programme.
She stated that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to empower young people with accurate information and life skills that will enable them to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being
A similar Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights campaign was organised by SOS Children’s Village at Hlotse High School in 2025.
