KING’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY IN MOKHOTLONG AFTER THE COMMUNITY WAS DULY INFORMED.

The District Celebrations Committee through its Communications cluster visited Motsitseng village to disseminate information on King Letsie III birthday anniversary celebration to be hosted by Mokhotlong from July 16 to 17.

A member of the Communications Cluster, Likano Molelekoa informed the villagers who attended a public gathering at the aforementioned village, that on July 16, the King will celebrate with Liphamola at Malingoaneng at district level while on the next day will be a national event, to be held at Pitso House within the Mokhotlong town.

Dissemination of information is part of activities undertaken by the Committee to ensure the community know about this national event they are expected to attend in large numbers.

Those who attended the gathering said they are happy and cannot wait for a big day to come and celebrate with the King.

King Letsie III was born on July 17 in 1963 at Scott Hospital, Morija. He is the eldest son of the late King Moshoeshoe II and Queen Mother ‘Mamohato Bereng Seeiso. He is married to Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso and blessed with three children, Princesses Senate and ‘Maseeiso and Prince Lerotholi.

The public gathering was organised by the Chief of Motsitseng, Chieftainess Phakisi – Lerotholi following the request of the villagers regarding illegal public transport fares they allege to be paying.

Chieftainess Phakisi Lerotholi said they currently pay M38.00, price determined by transport owners instead of M15.00 from Motsitseng to Mokhotlong town, according to the price list recently published.

The Police Officers from Mokhotlong Police Station addressed the public saying they are right to have raised their concern on alleged illegal transport fares and advised them to report such incidents at the police station so that law offenders can be dealt with accordingly.
