LESOTHO AND THE UNITED KINGDOM ARE STRENGTHENING TIES WITH A JOINT FOCUS ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, ENHANCED COOPERATION AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT.

The Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Honourable Makatleho Motsoasele today held a constructive engagement with the British High Commissioner to Lesotho Her Excellency Martine Sobey, reaffirming the strong and historic partnership between the Kingdom of Lesotho and the United Kingdom.
Discussions focused on advancing areas of mutual interest, including strengthening bilateral cooperation, ensuring effective implementation of commitments arising from the Lesotho–UK partnership, and identifying opportunities to deepen collaboration in support of Lesotho’s development priorities.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of translating mutual agreements into tangible programmes that deliver meaningful impact for the people of Lesotho and the UK. The Office of the Prime Minister reaffirmed its commitment to playing a coordination and oversight role in ensuring that agreed initiatives progress from commitments to results.
The engagement further underscored shared priorities in areas such as governance, youth empowerment, economic development, skills development, climate resilience, and strengthening institutional partnerships.
Lesotho values its enduring friendship with the United Kingdom and remains committed to building a forward-looking partnership based on mutual respect, shared interests, and practical outcomes for both nations.
