LESOTHO JOINS THE FOUNDING MEMBERS OF WAICO

 The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Honourable Limpho Tau, had signed the Agreement on the Establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) in Shanghai, China.

Lesotho is among the 29 founding countries of the new intergovernmental organization, which aims to promote international cooperation and fair, safe and beneficial development of Artificial Intelligence.

The signing took place as the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation, Honourable Nthati Moorosi, attended the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance.

Lesotho used the platform to call for a global partnership to build AI skills and institutions in developing countries, as well as a framework to help countries turn fragmented data into secure, trusted and AI-ready digital resources.
