MINISTER MOOROSI OFFICIATED COMMONWEALTH ORGANISATION COUNCIL SESSION

The opening of the Council Session of the 64th Commonwealth Telecommunication Organisation (CTO) commenced with CTO song at a city hotel in Maseru on the 4th Day of the meeting.

Through the song, members were surrendering in one accord to God, whom they said their help came from Him.

The climax of the opening was the presentation of wood craft gifts to the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), Ms. Nthati Moorosi as well as CTO Secretary General, Ms. Bernadette Lewis.

In her remarks, the Minister said the fact that the meeting which preceded a road show, as well as council session is being hosted in the city at the time of CTO 125th anniversary marks a milestone.

She said Africa has a lot to offer in terms of digital transformation, highlighting that the gathering will promote the voice of Africa.

She alluded that this platform will further advance and ensure connectivity now and for the next 125 years to come.

Similarly, CTO Secretary General Ms. Bernadette Lewis said the meeting comes at the time when Middle East conflict continues, hence this is the time to stand in solidarity now more than ever.

She explained that the vision of the CTO which has been in existence for 125 years lies in the hands of member states.

“Through this meeting, let us support each other, commit to CTO values and strengthen further bonds of relationships,” she said.

In the same note, CTO Chairperson and Communications Minister Samoa, Mr. Agaseata Tanuvasa Valelio Tanuvasa Peto said the meeting is also being held at the time of transition, demanding members to create a legacy for generations to come.

Over and above that, he called members to also ensure promotion of security and innovation in a bid to shape the society and growth.

CTO which has a total of 33 members aims to amongst others ensure that member states stand in solidarity towards promotion of innovation.
