Muslim faithful in Ijara celebrate Eid al-Adha
Hundreds of Muslims converged at the Yussuf Haji prayer ground in Masalani town and other venues across Ijara Sub-county to commemorate Eid al-Adha, also known as the ‘Festival of Sacrifice.’
Leading the celebrations at the Yussuf Haji ground, Sheikh Abdi Wahab called for unity of purpose among the various religious groupings and earnest prayers for the country ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
He urged the area residents to co-exist peacefully and foster good neighborliness, irrespective of their religious persuasion.
Sheik Wahab called on the politicians countrywide to also guard their utterances and strive to advocate for peace, unity and harmonious coexistence, despite their political differences.
During the festivities about 1,500 sheep and goats were slaughtered to feed families and their relatives, as well as those in the neighborhood, including the less privileged.
During Eid al-Adha, Muslims emphasize the expression of love, generosity, and kindness to neighbors as a fundamental religious and social duty.
This practice directly fulfills Islamic teachings that mandate sharing of the festival’s blessings, fostering community unity and caring for all people, regardless of their faith or socio-economic status in the society.
