Namanga ESP market nears completion
Traders at the border town of Namanga are set to benefit from improved business facilities, even as the construction of the Namanga ESP Market nears completion.
The project, being implemented under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) by the State Department for Housing and Urban Planning, is currently 70 percent complete and is expected to be ready for use by August this year.
Speaking after inspecting the progress of the project, Kajiado Central Member of parliament, Memusi Kanchori expressed satisfaction with the ongoing works and commended the national government for transforming business environments across the country through the ESP Markets programme.

The legislator noted that the modern market has a capacity to accommodate 280 traders, describing it as a major boost to employment and economic growth in the area.
The facility includes an administrative office, a cold room for storage of fresh produce, a social hall and an ICT room equipped with space for 20 computers.
Memusi also called on the Kajiado County Government to ensure fairness during the allocation of stalls once the market is completed.
He emphasized that traders who currently do not have stalls should be given first priority during the allocation process.
The project forms part of a broader effort by the National government through the State Department for Housing and Urban Development to construct more than 10 ESP markets across the county.
