Nationals in various countries celebrate Independence Day anniversary

Asmara, 23 May 2026 – Nationals in various Canadian cities, as well as in Jeddah and its environs, Saudi Arabia, colorfully celebrated the 35th Independence Day anniversary under the theme “Our Resilience: Our Guarantee.”

The celebratory events in the Canadian cities of Ottawa, Winnipeg, and London, in which a number of nationals of various ages took part, featured cultural and artistic performances as well as programs aimed at inculcating national values in children and youth.

Representatives of national organizations who delivered messages on the occasions said that Eritrean Independence is unique, as it was realized through heavy sacrifice after 30 years of arduous struggle, and that it is the responsibility of every citizen to strengthen participation and contribution toward national development.

In the same vein, the Eritrean community in Jeddah and its environs celebrated the 35th Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal on 20 and 21 May, featuring various programs depicting the deep significance of the day to the Eritrean people.

The celebratory event was attended by Embassy staff, members of the Eritrean community, as well as invited guests.
