A new 10-classroom tuition block constructed through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) was officially commissioned at Sergoit Comprehensive School in Kamariny Ward, Elgeyo Marakwet County, marking a major boost to education infrastructure in the area.

The project was commissioned by Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen during the school’s 70th anniversary celebrations hosted by Keiyo North Member of Parliament Adams Kipsanai.

Speaking during the event, MP Kipsanai said the modern tuition block, fully funded by NG-CDF Keiyo North, will help improve the learning environment and expand access to quality education for learners in the region.

“The new classrooms will provide a better learning environment and enhance access to quality education for learners in this area,” said Kipsanai.

He noted that NG-CDF continues to play a significant role in transforming schools through infrastructure development and bursary support for needy students.

“The National Government Constituencies Development Fund has revolutionized access to quality education at the grassroots through the development of education infrastructure and bursaries for needy students,” he said.

Kipsanai further called on parents to support education and ensure every child gets an opportunity to pursue their academic dreams.

“I urge parents to ensure that every child is given an opportunity to pursue their dreams through education. Together, we can build a knowledgeable and responsible generation for the future of our nation,” he added.

CS Murkomen praised the project, saying the new tuition block reflects prudent use of public resources and demonstrates the importance of investing in education infrastructure.

“I commend Adams Kipsanai, the Constituency NG-CDF Committee and the school management for prudently utilizing NG-CDF to build a modern and magnificent tuition block,” said Murkomen.

The Cabinet Secretary said improved infrastructure is key to enhancing academic performance and creating a conducive learning environment for students.

He also urged parents to closely monitor the academic progress of their children and directed National Government Administrative Officers to work with school administrators to ensure schools remain free from drugs and alcohol.

The commissioning ceremony attracted learners, parents, teachers, local leaders, and residents who lauded the project as a major milestone in improving education standards in the area.
