Thindiga Road tarmacking works begin

Tarmacking works on the Kasarani-PCEA-Windsor Road stretch in Thindigua, Kiambu County, has commenced, raising hopes of improved connectivity and easier movement for residents and motorists.

The project, undertaken by Ocean Creed Contractors, is currently at the mobilisation stage, with road preparation underway ahead of the actual laying of the tarmac.

Kiambu Town MP Machua Waithaka inspected the ongoing works around Feruzzi Tower alongside engineers from the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), where he also engaged residents on issues arising from the construction.

The legislator said the road project was part of efforts to expand the tarmac network in Thindigua, noting that the area had previously lacked tarmacked roads.

“Slowly but surely, Thindigua is getting connected,” Machua said.

The inspection also focused on water supply challenges occasioned by the ongoing road construction, after some water pipes were displaced during the preparation of the road, affecting supply to several households.

Machua said new pipes had been procured and directed the contractor to work with Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company to restore the affected water lines and ensure residents regain their water supply.

He said the road improvements would enhance accessibility while supporting economic activities and improving the general infrastructure in the area.

The MP noted that several roads in the Kiambu town constituency had been tarmacked since he assumed office, adding that efforts would continue to expand the road network to meet the needs of the growing population.

KURA engineers and the contractor are expected to coordinate closely with the water utility to minimize disruption of essential services as construction progresses.

The Kasarani-PCEA-Windsor Road is expected to improve connectivity between residential areas and key commercial centers while easing transportation for residents and businesses in Thindigua.

Machua said although development was being undertaken progressively, the ongoing projects demonstrated continued efforts to improve infrastructure and living conditions for residents.
