Training on material and financial management
Barentu, 08 June 2026- Training on material and financial management has been provided to members of the Ministry of Agriculture in the Gash Barka Region.
The training, organized in collaboration with the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance and National Development, was attended by 174 participants, including 77 females, comprising heads of agriculture offices in the sub-zones as well as other agricultural experts.
Mr. Abubeker Osman, Director General of Agriculture and Land in the Gash Barka Region, said that the training covered material management and documentation, obligations of cashiers, and other related issues.
Noting that after Independence the Ministry of Agriculture has been supplying farmers with fertilizer, medicines, and irrigation facilities at fair prices, Mr. Abubeker said that farmers are registering encouraging achievements, guided by agricultural experts assigned in all administrative areas in the region.
Mr. Efrem Kiflu, Director General of Administration and Finance in the region, said that the Ministry of Agriculture is working by designing clear guidelines and organizing sustainable training programs with a view to boosting agricultural productivity and realizing the ministry’s sustainable goal of ensuring nutritious food for all and everywhere, and that encouraging achievements have been registered to that effect.
Noting that effort is being exerted to boost agricultural production by giving priority to water and soil conservation and creating strong relations between agricultural experts and farmers, Ambassador Mahmud Ali Hirui, Governor of the region, called on the trainees to apply the knowledge they gained from the training in their workplaces.
In related news, theoretical and practical vocational training ranging from three to six months was provided to 295 youth in Berik sub-zone in the Central Region.
The training covered literature, film directing, poetry and fiction writing, as well as first aid.
Mr. Tesfu Fesehatsion, administrator of the sub-zone, called on the trainees to apply the knowledge they gained from the training in improving their livelihoods. He also commended the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students for organizing the training program.
Mr. Samson Kifle, head of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students branch in the Central Region, on his part called on the trainees to upgrade the knowledge they gained through practice and play their due part in the nation-building process.
