The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has announced the upcoming National Performance Review Conference, scheduled to take place from April 15–17 at Speke Resort, Munyonyo in Kampala.

Speaking on UBC Television’s Good Morning Uganda Extra on Monday, the Head of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Secretariat, Dr Albert Byamugisha, said the conference will assess Uganda’s development progress in line with the country’s socio-economic transformation agenda.

The three-day meeting, which opens on Wednesday, will be presided over by President Yoweri Museveni as the chief guest.

“This is a high-level platform convened to strengthen coordination and accountability in the implementation of Uganda’s development agenda,” Dr Byamugisha said. “We extend an open invitation to all Ugandans. It is a rare opportunity to engage in discussions on national development accountability at the highest level.”

He noted that the conference will bring together representatives from all three arms of government, development partners, academia, and civil society. Participation will be both physical and virtual.

Mr Mayanja Gonzaga, Commissioner for Monitoring and Evaluation (Local Government) at OPM, said the conference will support the achievement of Uganda’s Vision 2040.

He explained that discussions will focus on progress toward key national priorities, including increasing household incomes, expanding employment opportunities, and achieving full monetisation of the economy.

Mr Gonzaga added that the meeting will also evaluate how programmes implemented by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as local governments, are contributing to the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV).

Additionally, he added that the conference will provide a platform for comprehensive analysis and accountability regarding the utilisation of public funds released to MDAs in the current financial year and their impact on national development.
