PM Nabbanja woos World Investors to come Uganda

The Prime Minister of Uganda, Robinah Nabbanja, has assured world investors of the enabling investment environment in Uganda because of peace and security.

“Uganda is the best investment destination in the whole of Africa and if you want to make profits, please come to Uganda and enjoy the waivers and incentives offered to investors by government,” said Nabbanja.

She said that Uganda is now on a path to grow its Gross Domestic Product 10 times through the 10-fold growth strategy from the current 69bn Dollars to 500bn dollars by 2040.

Nabbanja made the call Monday afternoon during a panel discussion at the opening of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) summit in the City of Dubai in United Arab Emirates.

The Prime Minister, while addressing investors drawn from all-over the world, said that Uganda is an investment destination in Africa because of continued peace and security for over 40 years.

She added that when they invest their money in Uganda, they are liberty to repatriate all the profits that would accrue from the investment without any impediments.  Nabbanja briefed investors of the opportunities available to add value on the various agricultural products and minerals which are in plenty in the country.

Robert Mukiza, the Director General of Uganda Investment Authority said that the summit is key in showcasing the opportunities available in Uganda for investment.

“When we come to such world summits we show-case our investment opportunities for the investors to tap in and we are doing exactly that. We have a stall to exhibit Uganda at the summit, said Mukiza.

The President of Ethiopia H.E. Taye Arske Salassie speaking during the opening ceremony said that Africa has readily available human capital that investors can tap into.

His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi the ruler of the Ras Al Khaimah and UAE supreme council member who spoke on behalf of the government said that development should be a long-term process.

This year’s AIM Summit convenes in its fifteenth edition under the theme “Towards a New Global Prosperity: Rebuilding the Future of Investment for Inclusive and Sustainable Development.”

The summit brings together a distinguished gathering of leaders, government officials, decision- and policymakers, and senior business figures, investors, and representatives of major corporations and regional and international organizations.

The summit also sheds light on the various issues shaping the current investment landscape and offers participants the opportunity to draw on leading global experience in order to develop innovative solutions to the challenges and shifts confronting the world, toward building a prosperous, sustainable, and balanced global economy.

The summit runs from 7^th to 9^th of September.
