The US$2.14 billion package of investment deals from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will deliver a state‑of‑the‑art Medical City and major energy and agriculture projects, President Hakainde Hichilema has announced.

Speaking on arrival at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport today after a two‑day working visit to Abu Dhabi, the Head of State said investments are already projected to exceed US$3 billion as technical negotiations on further bilateral transactions near completion.

President Hichilema explained that the mission was designed to mobilise international capital for the national Grow Zambia agenda, placing health delivery and economic resilience at its core. He said several memoranda of understanding signed in Abu Dhabi represent direct commercial partnerships between public and private enterprises, facilitated by the two governments.

“The private sector is integral to the execution of the Grow Zambia agenda; they are the implementers. Government’s role is to create an enabling environment by investing in infrastructure to make this agenda possible,” President Hichilema said.

He noted that his administration has already laid the groundwork by revamping road corridors, rehabilitating rail links, modernising telecommunications and introducing competitive tax incentives within special economic zones to spur reinvestment and enterprise growth.

The President said Zambia’s economic fundamentals have stabilised, providing a strong platform to ensure business gains translate into tangible support for social sectors, quality jobs and improved livelihoods.

Concluding his remarks, Mr. Hichilema appealed to citizens to embrace the Grow Zambia agenda and participate actively in driving productivity across the country.
