ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM LAUNCHED UNDER SEBABATSO INITIATIVE
The Minister of Gender,Youth and Social Development, Honourable Pitso Lesaoana, together with the United States Embassy and the American Corner, officially launched the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skills Development Programme under ‘Sebabatso’ the Prime Minister’s Youth Empowerment Initiative.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Lesaoana highlighted the importance of embracing technology in a rapidly changing global environment. He noted that AI presents significant opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs, stressing the need for Lesotho to keep pace with technological advancements and he also encouraged participants to take full advantage of the programme, stating that the skills and tools provided would help expand business markets and improve competitiveness.
The United States Chargé d’Affaires to Lesotho, His Excellency Thomas Hines, said the programme is aimed at equipping entrepreneurs with practical AI skills that can help them connect with global markets. He noted that artificial intelligence can enhance marketing efforts, increase access to international audiences and strengthen digital infrastructure.
He further indicated that the initiative would contribute to Lesotho’s economic development by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and business growth. The programme is expected to empower participants with the knowledge and technological capabilities needed to become successful innovators, entrepreneurs and business leaders in the digital age.
