Monetary support extended to families of martyrs

Barentu, 22 June 2026- Monetary support in connection with Martyrs Day has been extended to families of martyrs in the Gash Barka Region.

Accordingly, 890 thousand Nakfa contributed by the public and Government workers in Molqui and Golij sub-zones, Gash Barka Region, has been disbursed to families of martyrs.

Mr. Hintseab Woldu, managing director of Molqui sub-zone, said that 90 thousand Nakfa has been distributed to families of martyrs at a ceremony organized on 17 June to mark Martyrs Day.

Noting that the support extended attests to the honor and respect the public has for its martyrs, Mr. Fikreselasie Yemane, head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare branch in the sub-zone, said that the support was provided to families of martyrs identified by their respective administrative areas.

Commending the initiative, Mr. Zeray Berhe, administrator of the sub-zone, called for its sustainability.

Similarly, 800 thousand Nakfa contributed by the public and Government workers in Golij sub-zone has been distributed to families of martyrs identified by the respective administrative areas.

Underlining that supporting families of martyrs is the responsibility of every citizen, Mr. Desie Gebremicael, administrator of the sub-zone, called for reinforced contribution in cultivating the lands of families of martyrs.

In the same vein, 110 thousand Nakfa has been distributed to 22 families of martyrs in Foro sub-zone, while 35 quintals of grain have been provided to 142 families of martyrs in Barentu sub-zone, and 53 thousand Nakfa to eight families of martyrs in Mogolo sub-zone.

Likewise, residents of Godaif and Paradizo sub-zones in the Central Region extended financial support to families of martyrs in connection with Martyrs Day.

Accordingly, 154 thousand Nakfa contributed by residents of Godaif sub-zone has been distributed to families of martyrs, while residents of Paradizo sub-zone extended 250 thousand Nakfa to children of martyrs who are set to go to Sawa to pursue their Grade 12 education.

Ms. Tiblets Tewolde, administrator of Godaif sub-zone, and Ms. Sitom Seid, administrator of Paradizo sub-zone, commending the initiative taken by the residents, called for its sustainability.
