President Hichilema Calls for Renewed Mandate, Promises Accelerated Development in Sinazongwe and Zimba

President Hakainde Hichilema has appealed to voters in Sinazongwe and Zimba Districts to grant the UPND administration another mandate, stressing that a full ticket for government candidates will secure the completion and expansion of critical development projects nationwide.

Addressing crowds during community engagement meetings, the Head of State urged citizens to “vote for a suite” of UPND candidates, stating that the opposition lacks a clear vision or alternative policy framework to advance national growth. He contrasted this with his administration’s track record over the past four years and eleven months.

In direct response to community needs, President Hichilema directed the immediate integration of local volunteers into the public service workforce, recruiting teachers, health professionals, and veterinary officers on the spot. He highlighted interventions in education, agriculture, and infrastructure, announcing plans to expand access to schooling through the construction of additional boarding facilities in rural areas.

The President also pledged to erect more Food Reserve Agency (FRA) storage sheds to safeguard grain and streamline crop procurement for farmers. He said government was working to reconstruct fallen and damaged bridges across rural connectivity routes.

On governance reforms, President Hichilema emphasised that the constituency delimitation exercise reflects care for local communities. He explained that creating manageable administrative zones will allow more resources to flow directly to grassroots levels through an expanded Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

President Hichilema expressed gratitude to Sinazongwe and Zimba residents for their decisive support in the 2021 general elections, and assured them that their loyalty would continue to yield tangible development. He outlined other key national investments anchored in the province, including the 300 MW Maamba Phase II project, which he described as vital for energy security and load‑shedding mitigation.

Turning to mining, the President pledged government support to formalise artisanal operations, promoting safe and legal practices to protect lives and maximise economic benefits for local communities.
President Hichilema reiterated that his administration remains focused on delivering sustainable growth, unity, and economic empowerment across all districts in Zambia, urging citizens to renew the UPND mandate to accelerate the country’s development trajectory.
