President Hakainde Hichilema says raising national copper output to three million metric tonnes annually remains central to the Grow Zambia economic transformation agenda, emphasising that citizens must directly benefit from the country’s mineral wealth.

According to a post on his official Facebook page, the Head of State made the remarks after high‑level discussions held on the sidelines of his two‑day working visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he met International Resources Holding (IRH) Chief Executive Officer Ali Rashed Alrashdi.

President Hichilema noted that Mopani Copper Mines, jointly owned by IRH and State‑owned ZCCM Investments Holdings (ZCCM‑IH), is key to achieving the ambitious production target for the benefit of both shareholders and the Zambian people.

He underscored the need for mining companies to fully implement the Local Content law so that more Zambians can actively participate in and reap rewards from the sector’s value chain.

The President reaffirmed Government’s commitment to ensuring that natural resources, with copper chief among them, deliver tangible benefits to citizens as the administration intensifies the implementation of the Grow Zambia agenda.
