President Hichilema: Vote for Steady Leadership – Governance is Not An Experiment

President Hakainde Hichilema has urged Zambians to back steady, proven leadership, emphasising that national progress requires discipline and hard work, not political trial and error.

Speaking at a community engagement in Itezhi-Tezhi District, President Hichilema underscored that governance demands vision, purpose, and genuine care for the welfare of all citizens. “Leadership is not about playing; it is about working for the people,” he said. “Governance should never be experimented with. We deliver because we love and care for our people, and that principle guides every policy we implement.”

Reaffirming the United Party for National Development (UPND) as a pro-poor party, the Head of State stressed that voting for the UPND is a vote for social welfare. He pointed to free education, expanded social cash transfers, and increased Constituency Development Funds (CDF) as tangible evidence of the administration’s commitment to vulnerable households.

Addressing long-standing development gaps in the region, President Hichilema explained that the delimitation of large constituencies was undertaken to accelerate localised growth. “We want to spur development here, and that is why we have done the delimitation. Dividing these large constituencies ensures that development reaches further and moves faster to where the people are,” he said.

The President reaffirmed his government’s focus on rural infrastructure, particularly road networks and energy access. He highlighted the upgrading of the critical Mongu Junction–Itezhi-Tezhi road as a top priority to unlock trade, agriculture, and regional transit.

Later, in Namwala District, President Hichilema urged residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for all UPND candidates, stressing that united support is essential to sustain ongoing projects and safeguard the gains achieved in the past four years and eight months of UPND leadership.
