South Africa: PM Nabbanja urges returnees to seize opportunities in Uganda

Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has urged Ugandans recently repatriated from South Africa to love their motherland, Uganda, and contribute to its development.

“You don’t have any other country you can call your motherland but Uganda, so you need to love your country and contribute to its development,” Nabbanja said.

She made the remarks while interacting with 1,030 returnees at the National Leadership Training Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi District on Friday.

Nabbanja urged them to reintegrate peacefully into their respective communities and use the skills and experience they acquired abroad to rebuild their lives, as well as contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.

The returnees are being prepared for reintegration into the country at NALI.  Nabbanja encouraged them to remain hopeful and take advantage of the opportunities available in Uganda.

The Premier thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for directing the repatriation of Ugandans following anti-migrant protests in South Africa. She also commended all the government institutions involved in the repatriation effort.

Nabbanja encouraged the returnees not to lose hope and to uphold the values of trust, honesty, and integrity.

The Commissioner of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps, Ms. Hellen Seku, said the training had achieved its objectives, as the returnees now view Uganda as the best place to build and secure their futures.
