Zambia, UAE Move to Deepen Bilateral Ties
President Hakainde Hichilema has reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to expanding economic and diplomatic cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, describing the Gulf nation as a vital partner in advancing the country’s growth agenda.
Speaking after high-level bilateral talks at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, President Hichilema said discussions with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan focused on broadening cooperation across key sectors for the mutual benefit of both nations.

”In recent years, Zambia and the UAE have continued to strengthen their relations and cooperation, with both countries opening diplomatic missions in each other’s capitals,” President Hichilema shared on his official Facebook page. “Our discussions focused on deepening these bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of our people.”
The President noted that the growing partnership comes at a critical time as the government intensifies implementation of its flagship economic strategy.
”The UAE remains a strategic partner as we implement the Grow Zambia Agenda,” President Hichilema said.
During the meeting, the Head of State also extended formal condolences to the UAE leadership and citizens following recent royal bereavement.
”We also took the opportunity to convey our condolences to President Al Nahyan and the people of the UAE on the passing of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,” he stated.
The Abu Dhabi engagement underscores Zambia’s sustained economic diplomacy push, aimed at unlocking strategic trade, investment, and development partnerships across the Middle East.
